Description
I am offering Maths (National 5 and Higher) and Chemistry (National 5) tutoring for £18 per hour.
I am a second year neuroscience student at the university of Edinburgh. Due to my passion for science, I am enthusiastic to engage and interest younger people in science subjects. I have completed my Highers and Advanced Highers in maths and chemistry and achieved straight As. I have a good knowledge of the subjects, and having only recently left school, I understand how to achieve a good grade.
I worked as a tutor of chemistry and maths all of last year. My tutees were studying National 5s and Highers. I went over anything they did not understand, found appropriate questions and worked through the questions with them in the sessions. Many achieved As or the grades they were aiming for.
I have a variety of other experience teaching and working with kids. As a 6th year pupil in school, I helped run the science club. I planned interesting and exciting experiments for a class of younger pupils and explained the theories to improve their understanding.
In the summers of 2013 and 2014, I went to India and volunteered in Love and Care Orphanage where I taught the children English. This summer I worked as a sailing instructor in a children’s summer camp in America. I planned lessons and explained sailing theories to the kids. These teaching experiences have taught me how to explain methods and information clearly. In these positions I had to always be organised. I planned lessons for each day and prepared beforehand. I have included photos of me in India with the kids I taught.
I can work flexibly around my classes at the university. Reliable and hard working, I work around my schedule and prepare before every tutoring session. My extensive experience with children means that I work well in this role as I am comfortable and animated with the kids, engaging their interest in the subjects.
If you are interested in tutoring, please get in contact with me. I am happy to travel to the tutee's address but only if it is close (within 2 miles). Otherwise, they can come for tutoring at my flat on St Leonard's Street.
