Paid volunteers for research on the effectiveness of facemasks against air pollution
Description
We are looking for volunteers to help us test the effectiveness of facemasks against diesel exhaust particulate. We need healthy volunteers to take part in a research study in Edinburgh to determine the effectiveness of facemasks for use to protect against particle air pollution in China. This is a preliminary study to allow us to identify effective masks in advance of a study in Beijing. The work is being undertaken in Edinburgh by the Institute of Occupational Medicine.
We are particularly looking for participants who:
• are ethnic Chinese
• are 18-65 years old
• are available for around five mornings or afternoons over the next month
If you would like to take part, contact us to complete a short eligibility questionnaire. The research will take place at the Institute of Occupational Medicine in Edinburgh. We will discuss scheduling the tests at times that are mutually convenient. The study pays 160 pounds in total and this will be paid at the end of the study.
Please contact Anne Sleeuwenhoek or Susan Steinle by replying to this ad or by calling 0131 449 8000. We will send you an email with more information.
The research is being undertaken as part of a study for the Natural Environment Research Council and it is approved by the Heriot Watt University, School of Life Sciences Ethics Committee. Ethics ref: 2016-165.
