thomas mccabe // box
Originally from Aberdeen, Thomas was taught to play button accordion by Accordionist, Tom Roche (Paddyrasta, The Reeling Stones). Having experienced playing in numerous groups and ceilidh bands in Scotland, Italy and France, he now teaches others to play the accordion and performs with Glasgow-based Breton band, Askolenn. Playing an array of instruments including guitar, piano and banjo, Thomas has an imaginative and musical style that is influenced by many different styles from Scottish and Irish dance tunes to French waltzes. Thomas also speaks French and Italian fluently and is happy to call dances in either of those languages.
michael muir // fiddle
Hailing from the border town of Dumfries, Michael developed his distinctive fiddle style first with classical training from one of the region’s leading teachers, Michael Stubbs, and then migrated towards the folk scene thanks to the thriving folk music community in the local village of Moniaive. He gained his first ceilidh band experiences alongside members of the prolific local groups “Two Left Feet” and “The Back Room Band” from whom he learned much about all aspects of ceilidh playing, dancing and calling. Michael’s open and friendly dance calling style is a constant source of amusement to the band members and audiences alike.
jamie wallace // guitar
A music graduate of the University of Glasgow, Jamie is a rising star on the Glasgow folk scene. Originally from Edinburgh, he has been rooted in Scottish traditional music, first as an accomplished fiddler and then making the move to guitar and voice. Jamie has performed as part of numerous traditional bands, has much experience of playing in ceilidh bands and is a talented singer-songwriter in his own right. He employs both his gifts as an accompanist and a vocalist in Three Men & A Box, skilfully complementing Michael and Thomas’ styles for ceilidh dances and bringing original song material to the band’s mix.
